Free Reading Plans and Devotionals related to 1 John 1:8

Over the next 15 days, read through John’s letter to the church in 1 John alongside explanatory passages adapted from ESV Expository Commentary: Hebrews–Revelation (Volume 12).

The purpose of this plan is to reconnect you with your heavenly Father, and through that connection restore you to a full life with him. This plan is not filled with a series of to-dos, but invitations to encounter God in everyday life. Use this plan three times a week to explore what it looks like to establish rhythms and practices to step into a growing relationship with God.

This devotional consists of reflections on key, defined words from various sources that will require you to conduct a personal examination of your own behaviors, with the intent of gaining a new perspective. You will also evaluate and acknowledge the grace and mercy God shows us as we navigate through our journeys as believers in Christ.

1 John is the first of three short letters written by the disciple John. 1 John is thought to have been written to the churches around Ephesus in around 90AD. In this short letter, we start to see and grasp the magnitude of God’s perfect character, and how much his love has radically been shown to us through Jesus. OUR GOD IS ____ ?

The Apostle John had one clear message in his letters: Love one another. In the letters of 1, 2, and 3 John, the beloved disciple encouraged followers of Christ to love God by following His commands, and to love and honor fellow believers. John’s message is incredibly relevant to us today, offering insight to us as we seek to live like Jesus lived and love like Jesus loved.

In this reading plan, we will study how the promises of God, the presence of God, and the resurrection of Jesus offer us help for today and hope for tomorrow.

What an incredible journey these twenty-one days will be as we fast, pray, and grow together. Fasting has a way of bringing every part of your life into focus in ways nothing else can do. If you will allow your moments of hunger and cravings to serve as reminders to stop and pray, you will find a closeness with your Heavenly Father like you have never known.

This Reading Plan goes through the first chapter of 1 Peter. The apostle Peter is writing to Christians who are facing hard times, and exhorts them to stand firm in the true grace of God. Peter gives valuable advice on how to do this in your daily life. Do read with us to profit from his teachings!
