Over the next 15 days, read through John’s letter to the church in 1 John alongside explanatory passages adapted from ESV Expository Commentary: Hebrews–Revelation (Volume 12).

The purpose of this plan is to reconnect you with your heavenly Father, and through that connection restore you to a full life with him. Use this plan three times a week to explore what it looks like to establish rhythms and practices to step into a growing relationship with God.

This devotional consists of reflections on key, defined words from various sources that will require you to conduct a personal examination of your own behaviors, with the intent of gaining a new perspective. You will also evaluate and acknowledge the grace and mercy God shows us as we navigate through our journeys as believers in Christ.

1 John is the first of three short letters written by the disciple John. 1 John is thought to have been written to the churches around Ephesus in around 90AD. In this short letter, we start to see and grasp the magnitude of God’s perfect character, and how much his love has radically been shown to us through Jesus. OUR GOD IS ____ ?

The Apostle John had one clear message in his letters: Love one another. In the letters of 1, 2, and 3 John, the beloved disciple encouraged followers of Christ to love God by following His commands, and to love and honor fellow believers. John’s message is incredibly relevant to us today, offering insight to us as we seek to live like Jesus lived and love like Jesus loved.

This Lenten season, I invite you to a daily pause to come close to the story. In your busy life, remember that Easter is on its way. Affirm your belief in resurrection power, and then admit that without a death, there would be no resurrection. I have designated readings for Ash Wednesday and the high points of Holy Week and included an extra reading for the Monday after Easter, but otherwise, whatever day you happen to be reading a devotional is the day the Holy Spirit ordained that you should be receiving its truth.

Deeper into Scripture is a methodology of scripture reading that instructs, encourages and equips people to read God’s Word daily and deeply. We have created a unique four-fold method of bible reading that directs the individual to read a short passage of scripture four times. Each reading is done with a different question, instruction or objective to be considered. This repetitive reading and instruction takes us deeply into the Word of God and draws us closer to Him.

Our most stressful times are when we feel boxed in. You feel stuck in a relationship. You feel trapped in a career choice. You feel strapped due to financial stress or hemmed in due to your health. In this reading plan, we will study how the promises of God, the presence of God, and the resurrection of Jesus offer us help for today and hope for tomorrow.
