Advent is, of course, a time to prepare. To prepare our homes, lives, and our hearts. Join us as we explore the Bible readings used by the Church to challenge, encourage, and help us prepare, not only to celebrate the incarnation but also the second coming of Christ.

Advent is a season of anticipation and remembrance. During Advent, we remember the coming of the promised messiah into the world—the first advent of Jesus. But we also look forward to the time when Jesus will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead—his second Advent. For this year, we have chosen to focus our devotion on Jesus's different names and titles. The scriptures give us these names and titles to show us distinct aspects of salvation and the kind of savior Jesus would be.

Busyness can become the mantra of the holiday season if we are not intentional to make room for Jesus. Over these next 24 days, let's declutter our hearts and minds so we can make room for the gifts of love, joy, hope and peace that our Savior has given us.

Reflect on the wonder of the incarnation – the infinite life found in the small infant Jesus and how he invites you to do wonderful work with him, right where you are. There were no fanfares when Jesus was born. The surroundings were far from royal: squeezed into a small home in a small, provincial town called Bethlehem. Yet this birth – the most wonderful news of all time – has infinite implications. Christmas can be an overwhelming season.
