Christmas can be an overwhelming season. We try to feel the joy of the celebration, but our long to-do lists and packed schedules often leave us exhausted and we crawl to Christmas Eve trying to survive until the 26th. In the middle of our very busy days, it's easy to forget what we really celebrate at Christmas: We celebrate Jesus. We celebrate His coming.

Advent can be a busy time for many of us but is often busy to the point of burnout for technical artists in the local church. Matthew’s Gospel opens the New Testament by brilliantly introducing the culmination of the entire Old Testament story. After thousands of years and dozens of generations, Jesus had come “to save his people from their sins” (Mathew 1:21). Matthew focuses on Jesus as King of Kings, who had come to reign on the throne of David forever.

Exploring Scripture can align ourselves with truth and help us grow in our relationship with God. The devotionals in this plan are not designed to unpack the meaning of passages for you, but to help guide exploring Scripture personally. We will be journeying through the Bible with Jesus by taking 30 days to follow this Scripture reading plan.

Deeper into Scripture is a methodology of scripture reading that instructs, encourages and equips people to read God’s Word daily and deeply. We have created a unique four-fold method of bible reading that directs the individual to read a short passage of scripture four times. Each reading is done with a different question, instruction or objective to be considered. This repetitive reading and instruction takes us deeply into the Word of God and draws us closer to Him.

It includes background information on each day’s Scripture passage and key verse for meditation, reflection questions to help you dive deeper into Scripture, a prayer and prayer concern to help you connect to God and be of spiritual support to others. Journey with us this month as we explore the theme, “God’s Life-Giving Word of Discipleship.”

This reading plan is part of a series that will take you through the entire New Testament in a year. Each month's plan covers a specific book or books. December focuses on Matthew.
