In this seven-day reading plan, Louie Giglio examines the David and Goliath story to show how those giants can fall: by focusing on the size of our God, not the height of your giants, and by walking in the victory Jesus has already won.

As we advance in our sophistication, humanity needs to be reminded of ancient simplicities that contain truth so potent that our lives can be enriched by their transformational power. Rest is one such ancient simplicity established by God at the beginning of His relationship with our first human parents. After working for six days, God declared the seventh day to be a day of rest – a day without boundary and equal.

God has sent us the Comforter to give us peace, He promises to take away our weariness, if we trust in Him. Let’s look at how we can find comfort in our lives through the scriptures this week.

Positive changes happen in us when we know, believe, confess and obey God’s Word. When we agree with what God says about us, our minds are renewed, and our choices and habits improve. Speaking His Word, and the truths it contains, over your life daily dismantles wrong thinking and develops right thinking. Oh, how complicated and stressful our lives can be! Yet God tells us He wants us to live simpler, more peaceful lives. He MAKES us lie down in green pastures, which shows we’re not very good at it on our own. Let’s spend this week seeking simplicity in our lives and be free of the things that are weighing us down. He’s offering us a simple life. Let’s accept it!

At times areas of our lives are like a wilderness: grief, loss of hope, rejection all play their part. But during these times, God loves to come alongside with His deep compassion and love. The Bible is full of stories of how God brought wonderful transformation in people’s lives. Father God can do the same today, to bring joy to your wilderness and transform your desert into a living stream.
