Our minds and schedules are so preoccupied that we’ve forgotten how to rest. And when we fail to rest we do more than burn ourselves out—we misunderstand the God who calls us to rest and created us to be people of rest. The Ten Commandments were the Word of God given physical form. But when Moses saw the Israelites violating God's holy law by worshipping a golden calf, he broke the two tablets in righteous anger. The Word of God was broken for the sins of the people. But because it is eternal, the Word of God cannot ever remain broken!
