My days are past; my plans are broken off, the desires of my heart. They make night into day: ‘The light,’ they say, ‘is near to the darkness.’ If I hope for Sheol as my house, if I make my bed in darkness, if I say to the pit, ‘You are my father,’ and to the worm, ‘My mother,’ or ‘My sister,’ where then is my hope? Who will see my hope? Will it go down to the bars of Sheol? Shall we descend together into the dust?”

My job as a hospital chaplain has taught me a lot about what grief is—how it operates, how it affects us, and how it isolates those who suffer from it. In this devotional, we’ll talk about what it means to grieve. As you mourn your loss in the ways that come naturally to you, don’t limit yourself to the following few days. Take as long as you need.

The book of Job chronicles testing a righteous man's faith through suffering. Although Job's friends attempt to comfort him, it is only by God's revelation of His wisdom and might that Job finds true comfort. Even in deep suffering, God can do all things, and none of His purposes can be thwarted (Job 42:2).

In this devotional, we will dig into what Scripture says about love, and I will share my story of discovering God’s love, to the point of forgiving the person who hurt me the most in my life. God desperately wants to show you the depths of His love and the person(s) in your life who you have struggled to love and forgive. Will you let love in?
