Welcome to the Crosstowne Advent calendar! This community Advent celebration will begin on December 1st daily through Christmas! You will have Scripture readings every day and a fun optional Christmas activity to get the whole family to celebrate the reason for this season. We're excited to remember the hope this season brings through the birth of Jesus!

Christmas can be an overwhelming season. We try to feel the joy of the celebration, but our long to-do lists and packed schedules often leave us exhausted and we crawl to Christmas Eve trying to survive until the 26th. In the middle of our very busy days, it's easy to forget what we really celebrate at Christmas: We celebrate Jesus. We celebrate His coming.

Everlasting Covenant is a four-week study designed for the season of Advent. Advent is a season of celebrating the coming of Christ and His fulfillment of God’s promises. Matthew’s Gospel opens the New Testament by brilliantly introducing the culmination of the entire Old Testament story. After thousands of years and dozens of generations, Jesus had come “to save his people from their sins” (Mathew 1:21). Matthew focuses on Jesus as King of Kings, who had come to reign on the throne of David forever.

The story of Ruth stands as a story of redemption. Coming from tragedy and as a foreign woman, Ruth is the last person we might expect to see the goodness of God. She becomes a key figure in the story of the Bible and the great-grandmother of King David himself!

Find hope in Jesus by exploring the opening chapters of Matthew’s Gospel. These chapters reveal who Jesus is: fully human, fully divine, Immanuel—God with us. He is the beloved Son of God, fulfilling the promises made to Abraham and David. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus not only shows us how to live in the kingdom of God but also makes a way for us to enter it. As His ministry begins with the call to repentance, we see the long-awaited kingdom finally breaking into the world. Hope is here!

The books of Joel, Ruth, and Hosea speak to the restorative nature of God and His faithful love for His people. Through it all, the call to God’s people remains the same: return to the Lord, for He is merciful and compassionate.
