BREAK THE WALLS DOWN

There’s a story in the Bible about a group of God’s people who have been in the desert for forty years. They’re hungry, they’re tired, and they’re ready to get into the Promised Land. But they come up over one last hill and see that lying between them and the Promised Land is the city of Jericho. They’re ready to fight to get to their reward, but as they approach the city gates, an angel appears to Joshua, the army’s leader, and tells him not to fight but to march the army around the city walls one time. This goes on for six days exactly the same way, but on the seventh day, they walk around seven times. On the seventh time, they follow God’s instruction to lift up a great shout. The walls around Jericho collapse, and they conquer the city without lifting a sword. The message in this story is that the battles we face are not actually ours to fight, they’re the Lord’s. When we belong to Him, when we lift His name up in worship and shout the name of Jesus, and when we carefully and diligently obey His commands, walls can come crashing down in our lives and we can be set free. Give your battles to Him and watch how He fights for you.
