Knowing our purpose does a lot for us. It can give us confidence, but it’s also more than that. God has revealed his Son to us so that we can demonstrate/reflect/model his attributes to the world. The result of knowing our purpose extends far beyond us – it can extend to the entire world! Jesus was the embodiment of every possible spiritual gift we could possibly have, and he used those gifts better than any one of us (on our own) ever could. The result? He completely changed the world with those gifts.
Now the world has us. While alone we can never be everything that Jesus was, working together we can bring the difference he brought into our world – our friendships, families, etc. We don’t have to be everything to everyone, but we can be something significant to someone.
The last few days we’ve learned more about your purpose and identity. Now it’s time to walk in this new identity. It can be both terrifying and awesome, but fight through the awkward and do something different.
Here’s a challenge for you to take on today: Try to share your story of what God has done in your life with someone. It’s easy. You might want to share with someone that already knows you or a family member first. To make this a little less overwhelming, try to break it down like this:
1 Minute: Before meeting Jesus, my life was...
1 Minute: I started a relationship with Jesus when...
1 Minute: God’s purpose for my life is...
Spend time in prayer. Thank God for the purpose and identity that you have in Christ. Confess and surrender the wrong thinking and wrong motives you’ve had in the past. Choose, instead, to surrender to God’s leading and be bold to walk in your true calling.
