A prayer for our children

Lord Almighty, we entrust our children to You. We ask You to surround them with Your presence, and to shield them from the devil. We ask You, Father, to expose and destroy the schemes that the enemy has planned against them and to assign Your holy angels to guard and protect them according to Your will. We pray that our children would put on the full armor of God, so that they can take their stand against the devil’s plots.

Lord God, shed light on our children, that they may not lose direction. Cover them with the blood of Jesus. Be their Rock, Fortress and Deliverer. We pray for our children to be strong, to be able to stand firm in You and in Your mighty power (see Ephesians 6:10).

We pray that our children would “grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 3:18, NIV). Lord, instill in our children souls that cling passionately to You. Help them to be alert, disciplined, strong, courageous, generous, respectful and hopeful. May they develop strong self-esteem that is rooted in the realization that they are God’s workmanship.

Lord, teach our children determination and help them to run their race of life with perseverance. We pray that faith would find root and grow in their hearts, that by faith they would boldly claim what has been promised to them.

Grant that our children would pray and always give thanks to God the Father for everything.

We pray this in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
