Your Mind is a Battlefield

Joyce Meyer’s excellent book, Battlefield of the Mind, shot this idea into the public consciousness. She helped us see how our minds are in a constant war to believe and trust and pursue the things of God. The battle ensues because of the world around us, as well as the “world” we have allowed to take up root inside of us.

I love this analogy because war is not a light activity. It's not a hobby you take up or something you choose to do when it fits your schedule. War is aggressive. It interrupts your normal life and calls you to rise to the occasion. To win a war requires training, sacrifice, and strategy. War does not end because you are tired or when you have lost a single battle. It only ends when the enemy is defeated.

I want to make this very clear: your mind is NOT the enemy, only the area where the enemy comes to do battle.  Your mind is beautiful, but it needs you to fight for it. It needs you to step up and train and sacrifice. Your life depends on it.
