What else sets us apart? What makes us unique in a day and age when anxiety, depression, political turmoil, abortion, suicide, and mass shootings are common and everyday occurrences? 

PEACE. Peace surpasses all understanding. Peace guards our hearts and minds. Peace bridges the gap. And, Peace walks hand in hand with Hope.

When we put our hope in the Lord, we see the victory of each day. Not because life is easy and not because we are choosing to whitewash the unthinkable or the tragic, but because we have made room for God to become strong in our weakness.

Hope reminds us that no matter what we face, He is able to make all that was broken whole again and trade our ashes for something beautiful. When we choose to walk under the covering of His peace and the shelter of His hope, we can face the challenges of the day without worry. And if that’s not UNCOMMON I don’t know what is.

Do you sometimes find yourself feeling overwhelmed by the unthinkable and tragic? Do you find peace to be elusive, something you are always chasing? Is your perspective sometimes clouded with hopelessness? You are not alone, not ever. If you find the burden you are carrying to be too heavy then perhaps it is not yours to carry. Surrender that burden to the Lord today. Let Him be strong where you cannot.

Prayer: 

Father, I’ve been carrying this heavy weight for too long, and I’m tired of trying to bear it alone. I’m sorry for trying to do life in my own strength. I know I can’t do it without you. Help me to trust you and your goodness even when I don’t understand. Come and fill my heart with your peace and hope. Amen.
