God didn't just create light. God is light.
Light is the essence of who God is and what he does.
The Bible is very clear about this.
God is a fountain of light. (from Psalm 36)
He sends out light and truth. (from Psalm 43)
He is wrapped in a robe of light. (from Psalm 104)
God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. (from I John 1)
Light gives radiance, warmth, clarity, direction, purpose, power, energy, and joy. All of those things describe God. All of those things are God.
God. Is. Light. Through and through, inside and out, in every way, all the time.

The Bible has a lot to say about light, starting on the very first page and going all the way through to the last page. Followers of Jesus Christ are called to "live in the light" - and that means something very different than "get some sun" or "catch some rays." After all, God didn't just make light. He IS light.
