Daily Bible Reading — Sustained By God’s Word Of Forgiveness & Mercyنموونە

August 4
Introduction
Moses and Aaron are unsuccessful in their attempt to have the king of Egypt free the Israelites. The Israelites are forced to work harder and they blame Moses and Aaron for their increased oppression. Moses complains to the LORD and questions the task he has been given.
Today’s Scripture: Exodus 5:1b
“The LORD, the God of Israel, says, ‘Let my people go, so that they can hold a festival in the desert to honor me.’ ”
Today’s Reading
Exodus 5:1—6:1
Reflect
Why does the king of Egypt refuse to free the Israelites? How does he intensify their oppression?
The king says that he does not “know the LORD” (5:2). What does it mean to you to “know the LORD”? What does Moses say to the LORD (5:22, 23)? How does the LORD respond (6:1)?
Pray
Lord God, when hardships and trials come my way, keep me strong in faith and close to you. Trusting in your love and mercy, I entrust myself to you care. In your holy name, I pray. Amen.
Prayer Concern
Those seeking to know the LORD
Tomorrow’s Reading
Exodus 6:2-27: God speaks to Moses again.
