May 8—Barrier: Lack of Love for Christ

Reflect

Think back to when you first surrendered your life to Christ. Compare then with now. Are there changes? The people in the church at Ephesus were guilty of having lost their “first love.” They no longer had the joy and the love that made them dynamic and infectious witnesses for Christ. If you find that your love has diminished, Christ invites you to do three things: 1) remember how much you loved him at the beginning, 2) repent of whatever has caused you to abandon your first love, and 3) repeat or return to those first things: love God, surrender completely, and share his love with others.

Engage

Read today’s Scripture passage. Say or write it out in your own words, considering the following questions:

· What does it say about God?

· What does it say about us?

· Is there a promise to trust?

· Is there a command to obey?

· How will I apply this Scripture to my life?

· Who will I show that I care by sharing this truth?

Now read this week’s memory verse, Mark 16:15. Spend a few minutes working to memorize it.
