Outcome

By seeking first the Kingdom of God, we are abandoning the control of our kingdoms and queendoms; looking for where King Jesus is at work and joining Him. Easier said than lived out, right? One of the fruits of Kingdom living that I’ve been loving lately is REST. As a recovering worry/control-a-holic, I have found a key to true rest! It’s not in the amount of scriptures memorized or quiet times that I’ve done this week, although those are wonderful gifts to your soul, but in the daily discipline of surrender.

Every time we worry, we become the kings of our kingdom. Every time we attempt to control the outcome of life circumstances, we become the queens of our queendoms. Again, everywhere the King is king, there is the Kingdom. So when we are stressing over things and trying to control the outcomes, it’s evidence that we care more about protecting our kingdoms than seeking Jesus’. That’s just plain old tiring!

What have you been worrying about lately? What’s an outcome that you are really hoping for? What area are you putting a ton of effort in to manipulate outcomes (relationship, job, promotion, winning God’s approval for something…)?

Our efforts and striving result in the OPPOSITE of rest; worry and anxiety!

Oh, dear friends and fellow journeyers in pursuit of Jesus... He grants sleep to those He loves! Sleep is the most trusting posture that we can take. We are told that we can only enter the Kingdom of God if we are like children. The phrase “Slept like a baby” is the offer from Jesus to all of us. What if it’s true? If we take Him at His word and surrender the outcome of everything in our lives, we will know Peace and Rest like we knew as babies.

Pray with me: “Jesus open our eyes today to the places that we are holding onto control and outcome producing. Jesus lead on today, again, that the language of our souls would be surrender!”
