Uncondemned: A Short Film About Mercyنموونە

When someone forgives us for our mistakes, a weighty air leaves our heart, mind, and soul and we inhale freedom from guilt. But only momentarily because we will mess up again. Fear of condemnation lives at the edge of our hearts because we know the nature of justice: wrongs must be made right. We also know our human nature: we are wrong often.

Condemnation can feel like a permanent presence in our lives, waiting to follow after our words and actions. Being sentenced to a punishment, whether it is a cold shoulder or a legal fine, is not something we all desire. Child of God, what great news from Jesus! The all-knowing righteous King says this, “Neither do I condemn you”.

If human forgiveness can release us from momentary condemnation and guilt, what more can the true Judge, ordained by God, do for our souls? He judges rightly with mercy and love. From his sacrifice on the cross comes an overflow of forgiveness for all our wrongs. 

We were sinners then and we are sinners now but his love made a way. It sets us free from condemnation. Christ understands the human heart; he sees our sins but also our need for love. It is only his love and mercy that can be the cure for guilt. This is his grace for you when you lay down all your wrongs and let his mercy saturate your soul.
