An Expansive House

This passage in Acts is special because it points to a very important moment in the birth of the church. On the day of Pentecost, all of Jesus' followers were gathered in the same place and at that moment, the Holy Spirit was poured out. Peter then stood up and began to preach and in one day, almost three thousand people became followers of Jesus.

This expansive growth was an immediate consequence of the Holy Spirit coming down upon the church. It's very interesting to read that after gathering, they "all" remained firm and stayed together. This means that from one day to the next, the apostles needed to start thinking of a solution for the addition of nearly three thousand new people. The apostles had to deal with the "difficulties" of embracing the growth that God brought.

Seeing churches struggle to embrace the growth that God brings should fuel our faith for the miracle that God wants to do after the growth. The God who brings growth is the same God who miraculously provides places and positions that cannot be ignored!
