Daily Bible Reading - December 2020 God's Life-Giving Word of Joyنموونە

December 13
Introduction
Today’s reading depicts two visions; the first is Christ’s return as a military leader; the second is a scene of victory in which God’s enemies are destroyed.
Scripture Reading
Revelation 19:11-21
Today’s Key Verse: Revelation 19:16
On his robe and on his thigh was written the name: “King of kings and Lord of lords.”
Reflect
Reread verses 11-16. What is the name of the rider? Why is he so named? How is he described?
What is the significance of the other names that appear in these verses? Verses 17-21 depict the end of a battle in which “the beast” and “the false prophet” and their followers are defeated. How do you interpret what is described here?
Pray
Sovereign God, you are victorious and universal is your reign. You are King of kings and Lord of lords. Help me to pursue justice and to serve you faithfully. In your holy name, I pray. Amen.
Prayer Concern
Those serving in the armed forces
Tomorrow’s Reading
Malachi 1:1-14: The prophet Malachi reminds the people of Israel of God’s love for them.
