New Year Devotional: Selah Compassion Conversationsنموونە

Seeking Wisdom
Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod, the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is he that is born King of the Jews? For we have seen his star in the east and are come to worship him.”
—Matthew 2:1-2
Selah
When we talk about wisdom, we recognise it's value and our need to pursue it. Yet as we reflect on the life of pilgrims across the depth of the Bible, there is a reoccurring theme: that one doesn’t just get wisdom, it is something that is gathered. Wisdom is acquired though experience, and the Bible implores us to seek after it.
The journey of the wise men in this scripture is an interesting place to explore what it means to seek out the wisdom of God. It begins with a heart that seeks out His Son, Jesus, in every journey we face.
Reflection Question:
How can you create space to grow in wisdom in the coming season?
Prayer:
Dear Jesus,
Help me to seek out Your wisdom and understanding in every journey I face. Help me to find it hidden in your Word, your ways and your wonderful presence. Thank you that for all of my days, I will dwell in your house forever.
Amen

We have officially started the year! The word “Selah” throughout scripture is used as an exclamation mark at the end of a verse to help us pause and reflect. As we take time to look back on the year that has passed, we want to invite you on a devotional journey about justice.
