THE SYMPHONY

Holy! Holy! You are my King. I put nothing before You! You made every part of me for singing, so how could I not adore You? Let every part of me hail You as my one and only King. Let every part of me come dance within your great symphony.

In Psalm 148, the author illustrates an incredible picture—all of nature will praise the Lord. Imagine witnessing the moon, sun, stars, and every living creature joining in expression-filled song to our God. Wow! 

Although the stars do not have a physical mouth to sing, they were given light and heat. The sun gives the life-sustaining light and heat to Earth. Without the sun, the Earth would be dark, lifeless, and cold. The temperature would drop below -100 degrees Fahrenheit, and all photosynthesis on Earth would cease. Nothing would survive. The sun uses its whole being to worship the Lord by faithfully fulfilling its purpose. In the same way, how do we, as God’s highest creation, use what we were given to glorify God? Could it be that our faithfulness in doing mundane tasks can be worship unto God? Could it be that worship to the Lord could be through something we already possess? In 1 Corinthians 10:31, Paul says. “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” (NIV).

Worship is not just singing and dancing, which many assume; these are but a few of the many worship expressions available for us to demonstrate our awe and love of the Lord. Worship is how we live our lives. It may be the act of choosing joy and praise even when we don’t feel like it. Praise is trusting and declaring the promises of God, even when we have been given a bad report. Praise is walking with Christ every day and choosing to exalt Him over anything else.
