Real Sacrifice

What might have been the most agonising decision of Abraham’s life turned out to be unnecessary. God didn’t require Isaac to be sacrificed. What God truly wanted was Abraham’s trust. That’s something He could build a community around.

We tend to think of sacrifice in practical terms, but sometimes the biggest challenge is to give up our own way of doing things. Faith isn’t easy, as Abraham’s life shows. How have you been challenged by God in this area?
