Devotions From John's Gospelنموونە

The concluding words of comfort are carefully spoken to help the disciples believe in Him when the horror of the cross unfolds before them. The hour had come; there is little time to talk. The power of darkness – "the ruler of this world" was coming. The irony of the conflict is that the power of darkness has no power over Jesus. Yet out of His love for Father, Jesus the light of the world in obedience to the Father’s commandment lays down His life voluntarily and willingly. Nobody can snatch it from him. The cross was not a failure. It is a victorious expression of love and obedience. There are passages that talk about how Jesus delights in Father’s love. This is the only place in the Gospel where Jesus speaks of His love for the Father and says, (14:31) “I love the Father.” His life is an offering of His love for the Father.
Dear sister and brother, how do you justify the pain, shame, suffering, and death of Jesus?
What do you have to offer if you love God?
Prayer
Jesus, the light of my life, I am touched by the sacrifice and suffering you submitted to on my account. Help me understand the victory of willing submission in love.
Jesus might say…..
My child, I love you as much as I love the Father. Obeying the Father is not the only reason for me to submit to the cross; it is also because I love you. My victory on the cross is your salvation.
