DAY 7: EVERYDAY PEOPLE DOING EXTRAORDINARY THINGS

But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth. 1 John 2:20 (NIV)

As a Christian, you have access to the answer: Jesus. You can pray for people and see the miraculous, and your unique story of how Jesus has changed your life is perfect and beautiful. So…what holds you back from sharing your story?

Many people disqualify themselves from sharing their faith because they are worried that they won’t be able to answer everyone’s questions. But if you just step out with the knowledge you have and you’re open, honest and real, the Holy Spirit will work with you.

A teenager who had only been a Christian for about a month once told me the story of what happened when a very heavy motor dropped on his shop teacher’s hand. Although he was brand-new to Christianity, that gutsy teenager piped up and prayed for healing in front of the entire class.

After he prayed, the teacher looked up at him and said sarcastically, “It still hurts.” The kid shot back, “Well, give it a minute!” Then, with a shocked look on his face, the teacher announced, “The pain is gone.” Full movement and use were also restored, and the entire class was touched by the experience.

Actually, this teenage boy was able to bring several of the boys from his class out to youth group after that incident. He didn’t need to be a Bible scholar or pastor for the Holy Spirit to work through him!

Others hesitate because they think God only works through certain people—preachers, worship leaders, missionaries, prophets. In the Old Testament, God did anoint certain people by making it possible for them to have the Holy Spirit’s power on or with them. But ever since you gave your life to Jesus, the Holy Spirit began to be with you all the time. His power isn’t on you; it’s in you.

You aren’t just anointed with his ability; you are a brand-new creation that is filled with his power and ability. I could name hundreds of examples of everyday people living Spirit Contemporary lives who prayed for healing, supernatural protection and more and experienced amazing miracles. So, no matter if you’ve been a Christian for 30 minutes or 30 years, you can work with the Holy Spirit. All that’s required is that you believe!
