Pouring Out
The legendary woman lives a poured-out, surrendered, yielded life before her Maker. Greatly forgiven, delivered from death and destruction, rescued from enemies and foes, wholly accepted, and lovingly redeemed, she has great love for the Master. She will go where He says go and do what He says do. She spends time in His presence, at His feet, pouring out her love for Him, knowing that she can only love Him because He loved her first.
The legendary woman remembers where she has been. She remembers the things that held her in bondage and weighed her down with guilt and shame. But she also remembers the moment her Lord and Savior unlocked her shackles, loosed her chains, opened the prison door, and lovingly called out, “Awake, awake, O captive daughter! Shake yourself from the dust. Arise. You are free. Stand fast in the freedom by which I have made you free.” (Isaiah 52:1–2; Galatians 5:1.)
Because of all that the Lord has done for her, the legendary woman can’t help but worship. She has been redeemed by His love. She has been overwhelmed by His grace. She has been captivated by His goodness. She has been showered with His blessings. She has been humbled by His mercy. Her response is to worship Him and praise Him, saying, “For He is good, for His mercy endures forever” (2 Chron. 7:3). She enters His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; she is thankful to Him and blesses His name (Ps. 100:4).
The legendary woman’s worship is not hindered by ingratitude. She is so thankful for what the Lord has done for her, both the big things and the little things. She has stored up His wondrous deeds on her behalf in her heart like treasures. She will not forget them, and she will not forget to bless the name of the Lord for all the good He has done.
The legendary woman does not abandon the love she had for Jesus at first (Rev. 2:4). She is not lukewarm (Rev. 3:16). She is not in a state of spiritual boredom or complacency. She will not be hindered by these things because if she recognizes any of them developing in her heart, she immediately heads for the feet of Jesus. She stirs up her love by being with Him. Her passion for Jesus grows day by day as she spends time in His presence. Her faith and her love are both fiery and fierce. She is confident in her identity as the bride of Christ. She is His, and He is hers (Song of Sol. 2:16).
The legendary woman also presents her body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, knowing that is her reasonable act of worship and service (Rom. 12:1). She is a willing vessel. She is clay in the hands of the master Potter. She is His workmanship, and she wants to walk in the good works that God prepared beforehand just for her (Eph. 2:10).
The legendary woman gives extravagantly of herself. She is obedient, knowing that obedience is better than sacrifice. She has fierce love for her Savior. And in all these things, she pours herself out like a drink offering, for a sweet aroma, an offering made to the Lord.
Accept my prayer as incense offered to you, and my upraised hands as an evening offering.—Psalm 141:2
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.—2 Corinthians 5:21
