Pray Knowing the Spirit Intercedes

And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes on behalf of the saints according to God’s will.

What a comfort it is to know that even when we do not know what to pray, the Holy Spirit prays on our behalf!

There are times in life when we don’t know what to pray. We are either crippled by emotion, unsure of what we want or what God’s will is, or at a loss for how to express our needs. In these moments, a trusted friend can come alongside us and pray for us. The prayers of a friend who knows and understands your situation can offer great comfort and peace when you do not know what to pray.

But even more comforting is the knowledge that the Holy Spirit is always praying for you. He understands your weakness. He knows what to pray and how to express your needs to the Father in ways you do not understand. He searches your heart, always interceding on your behalf. And He prays for you according to God’s will.

What an incredible privilege to be prayed for by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is fully God, an active member of the Trinity, in constant unity with God the Father and God the Son. God Himself is praying for us, lifting our needs according to His will. What an incredible truth!

The Holy Spirit is our Comforter and our Advocate. He is working to make us more like Christ, aligning our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors with God through prayer. When we yield to the Holy Spirit, we can be assured we are aligned with God’s will.

Prayer

Father God, I thank You for Your gift of the Holy Spirit, who has taught me more about myself and about You than I could have ever imagined. Help me, Lord, to remain submitted to the Holy Spirit that I may remain aligned with Your will for my life. Thank You for loving me so much that You have gifted me with my very own Teacher, Guide, Advocate, and Comforter. In Jesus’ name, amen.
