In what way can I make a difference?
Maybe you have been thinking throughout this reading plan that all of this sounds well and good but what about me? What about me who’s not comfortable talking to people I don’t know? The Great Commandment was never simply a call for the twelve disciples alone, and its not a call for the successful or talented, it’s for everyone.
First, God might have given you some equipment, a talent, an ability which isn’t the same as everyone else around you. Maybe you can do something entirely new in your church? Something that hasn’t been done before. Maybe you can be creative with the small things you are given. Not everyone is meant to be on the streets, shouting from the roof tops. Not everyone is supposed to preach from the pulpit.
We’re all given different tools to employ in God’s kingdom, but God’s kingdom doesn’t depend on our tools. It never did and never will be the skills of the preacher that makes anyone come to faith. It’s the Holy Spirit. The gifts may be different, but the Spirit is the same.
