The Christmas story is FULL of surprises and reminds us that God’s ways are not ours. Tuning into the surprises in the plotline can help us practice postures that support God’s kingdom and not our own expectations.
Read the whole Christmas story (and/or scan your memory of it) and take note of things that might have been unexpected … like angels coming out of the sky or a star that moves slow enough for you to travel with it, etc.
- How does the way God enters the world surprise you?
- Would you have picked an old woman or a young girl to be the stars of the story? Why or why not?
