PLEASING GOD

What is the real reason why you would choose to follow God's ways and not pursue your own way? The only long term motivator is a deep love for God and a desire to please and honor Him.

Proverbs 5 tells another type of parable (like chapter 7) about the "adulterous woman" - a picture of lust and sexual sin. Similarly to Proverbs 7, we are warned to steer clear of lust and sexual sin.

But we are also given the real motivating reason for why we would do this.

Proverbs 5:21 (NIV): "For your ways are in full view of the Lord, and he examines all your paths."

God sees all and knows all. We live a life of purity and live restrained in our sexuality because we love God and seek to honor Him, knowing that nothing we do goes unnoticed by Him.
