NEXT STEPS: Baptismنموونە

HOW SHOULD I BE BAPTIZED?
Oftentimes we have people ask us, "I was baptized as a baby. Should I be baptized again?" We thought it would be helpful to devote a day of this study to explain this a little. We believe that the Bible paints a clear picture of being baptized by being immersed in the water instead of being sprinkled. We already discussed in the days above what the reasoning and meaning behind it is. However, the reason we bring this up is because there have been churches that have insisted that members have their children/babies sprinkled in order for them to be 'saved' and their family to be a part of the church.
The truth is, this practice is not found anywhere in the Bible.
And if we're honest, none of us even remember being one or two years old, let alone did we understand the weight of our sin and what it takes to follow Jesus. That's why we believe that baptism is by immersion for people who are of an age where they can understand the commitment they're making. So long story short, if you were baptized/sprinkled as a baby, we believe that being baptized as an adult can be a really encouraging and powerful event.
To be able to take the opportunity, now that you fully understand the significance of the decision, is certainly exciting and could be your next step!

The Bible clearly teaches that baptism is the first step of obedience after making a commitment to Jesus Christ. Making a decision to follow Jesus when no one is looking is significant, but there's something powerful about publicly declaring, in front of family and friends, that you've given your life to Christ. This Bible plan will walk us through what the Bible says about baptism as a next step for a believer!
