I Have Gotten a Man!
Do you hear the words of hope in Eve's declaration? "I have gotten a man!" Perhaps Eve was thinking, "God promised that my offspring would crush the head of the serpent that deceived me. Could this be the one to do that? Will our broken relationship with God be restored through this man?"
We have the advantage of looking backward at Eve's story, so we know that Cain was not the answer to God's promise. In fact, he was far from it. But let's allow her words of hope to rise within each of us.
Question: Look at the activities of your daily life through the eyes of hope. What promises have you received from God that you are still waiting to come to completion? Allow the experiences of each new day to fill you with anticipation of God's present activity in your life. Don't lose hope because of the delays you experience.
Prayer: O God, help me keep my eyes and heart fixed on the promises you have given me. Help me stay strong in the place of hope until the day of fruition comes; I know that you will fulfill your promises to me in your perfect timing. Amen.
