What The World Needs Nowنموونە

The fear of commitment is understandable—commitment is a big responsibility! We may make a hash of it. To relieve our angst, we keep our options open, or don't undertake to do anything in case we under-deliver. Thank God that God is nothing like us. In Genesis 15, God makes a pact with Abraham, guaranteeing his future and that of his descendants. And even if people break faith, God doesn't.
God is a sure thing. When we scan our promises, our commitments, our allegiances—are we?
Our loving Father, thank You that You have committed Yourself to us when You could have freely chosen not to. Make us like You, so that we are known for being ever faithful and trustworthy. Amen.

What the world needs now is love, sweet love, the song goes. Absolutely—and yet the world needs more than love. In the West we're more anxious than ever, feeling the weight of too much choice and measuring our worth by our achievements. It's a good thing then that Jesus brings many, many blessings to a needy world.
