Livestock & Festering Boils
Reflect
The next two plagues are short and sweet in Scripture, but made very large impacts on the people of Egypt. And the separation between Egyptian and Israelite continued on. Only Egyptian livestock was killed, targeting the Egyptian god Hathor, who is portrayed with the head of a cow. God continued to prove to Pharaoh that He was powerful and His will would be done.
Immediately following the death of the livestock, the next plague began. God revealed each plague in different ways. Sometimes He gave Pharaoh a heads up, but sometimes there was no warning. This time, Moses and Aaron took soot from a fire, tossed it into the air, and it spread throughout all of Egypt. Before Pharaoh could blink, all of his people were covered in boils, which seems horribly unpleasant. This shows the deep stubbornness of Pharaoh.
