Different Life: 2nd Commandmentنموونە

The world sees nothing as special. By saying everything is special, nothing is distinctly special. Another way to say it is that it regards very little as holy. Everything is just about preferences. God wants us to live differently. He wants us to hold him in reverence. He alone is distinctly special.
Old translations will say not to carry God’s name vainly. This is more than avoiding curse words with God. It’s about how we, who bear the name of God, carry his name. Our lives reflect him. Do we realize that holy and sacred task? Do we realize people’s attitude towards God stems from how we live as one of his? So the second commandment tell us to act weird in the way we treat and direct ourselves towards God, at least from the world’s perspective. The regard with which we hold him impacts what you believe and how you treat him.

This leads to different values about right and wrong, and a different lifestyle to match it. This series of 5-day plans uses the 10 Commandments (following the classic Augustinian ordering) as a vehicle for an alternative, Christ-like morality and Jesus-way of living.
