WHO SAID WHAT?
“I forgive them for what they have done.” Sometimes you hear this on a news report of a tragedy. It is not an easy thing to say!
Not easy – but it’s what Jesus said, at the moment he was dying!
Jesus knows his punishment is unjust. He does not deserve to suffer and die. But he refuses to be bitter or resentful or hateful.
Jesus forgives even the people who are killing him – the crowd and the soldiers.
The Bible tells us about other things that were said that day. Look at verses 36 to 43.
What did the soldier say?
What did the first thief say?
What did the second thief say?
Even though Jesus was in such pain, he was still kind to others. What did he say to the second thief? What amazing love!
Pray: Write these words on a strip of paper: Jesus says, “I forgive you.”
Put the paper by your mirror. Every time you look at yourself today, thank Jesus for forgiving you.
