1. Purity and Holiness

Setting physical boundaries is crucial in maintaining purity and holiness within the courtship. Respecting each other's bodies and saving intimacy for marriage is a fundamental principle in Christian relationships.(1 Thessalonians 4:3-5) "It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God." By establishing physical boundaries, couples honor God's command for purity and maintain the sanctity of the relationship.

2. Emotional Well-being

Boundaries are essential for emotional well-being. Emotional boundaries help in guarding one's heart, ensuring that emotions are not manipulated or hurt in the relationship. (Proverbs 25:28) "Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control." By setting emotional boundaries, individuals protect themselves from unnecessary heartache and emotional distress.

3. Spiritual Growth

Boundaries can also be spiritual. Establishing boundaries regarding spiritual practices and activities helps in fostering spiritual growth individually and as a couple. (Ephesians 4:15) "Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ." Spiritual boundaries aid in creating an environment where both individuals can grow in their faith and support each other's spiritual journeys.
