Have you ever doubted a story your friends told you? Heard something that seemed too good to be true? Well, then you can relate to someone like Thomas in Scripture. It didn’t matter that his friends experienced the resurrected Jesus; he needed to see it for himself. Thomas is often portrayed in a negative light due to his doubts, but I think his doubts make a lot of sense. Notice the posture behind his words. He doesn’t say, “I don’t believe it.” Instead, he says, “I won’t believe it unless…” The experience of his friends makes him curious to experience it himself. He wants to believe, but to do that, he wants to experience it himself.
What are you curious about when it comes to Jesus? What would you like to experience that you’ve heard about from others? Today, write down what makes you curious about Jesus, and find a trusted adult or friend to ask them about it.
