SLANDER
Anti-venom: Being your Brother’s Keeper
The Church serves as a gathering place for imperfect beings, all united in their pursuit of Christ. Each individual varies in spiritual maturity and character development. Consequently, conflicts are inevitable. However, if we bear in mind that God has fortified His church against the onslaughts of darkness, we will exercise caution in our conversations.
Slander is the poison injected by the old serpent into the house of God, aiming to corrupt the minds of its members and sow discord, ultimately leading to collapse. Often, individuals find themselves pondering, "Is this rumor true?" Yet, we must reach a point where we say, "Even IF it is true."
Being our brother's keeper is a matter of principle, not merely emotion. Just as God has shown us mercy, we are compelled to extend the same to others. No one should eagerly anticipate the downfall of a fellow believer over an offense. Reflecting on how the enemy might exploit our actions and words to undermine the work of the Lord should prompt us to reconsider our conduct.
Seek reconciliation with those with whom you are at odds, lest you unwittingly become a tool in the hands of the devil against the Kingdom of God. Counteract slander with truth and offer love and encouragement to those in darkness. Above all, intercede for them in prayer.
