When someone hurts you over, and over, and over again, it can be difficult to move forward, can’t it? Maybe they acknowledge the wrong done and apologize for the impact, but nothing changes. Or maybe they never own up to what they’ve done to cause you pain. Either way, forgiveness isn’t easy to give. This is where Jesus’ countercultural approach to forgiveness comes in handy for us. Jesus commands us to forgive every single time. Of course, that likely feels impossible, but remember, everything is possible with God.

Asking for God’s guidance and help to move forward in forgiveness (especially when we don’t want to!) is the only way we can do it—over and over and over again! Why not start now? If you’re having a hard time letting go of something, ask God to help you forgive. Then, keep praying for the strength to forgive and move forward no matter what. And finally, if you find yourself in a harmful situation, know that part of moving on can be speaking up and making a change. So, ask God for the strength to help you take a step toward sharing what’s been done to you with someone you trust this week.
