A Woman of Valour

The Jewish Publication Society translation of Proverbs 31:10 says, “A woman of valour who can find? For her price is far above rubies.” Valour is associated with warfare and courage, and the warrior nature of a Proverbs 31 woman is evident in the use of her hands and arms (Proverbs 31:13, 16, 17, 19, 20, 31). King David, one of the greatest warriors in the Bible (and in history), declares in Psalm 18:34 (NKJV), “He teaches my hands to make war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.” In Psalm 144:1 (NKJV), he declares, “Blessed be the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle.” A Proverbs 31 woman is a warrior whose hands and arms are for spiritual warfare, consistently defeating the kingdom of darkness with the spiritual intel she receives from the Holy Spirit.

Proverbs 31 warriors entered the ranks of the ‘More Than Conquerors’ because Jesus, the Lord of Hosts, paid a price for them to join His family and receive the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Resurrection, powering the ‘More Than Conquerors’ life (Romans 8:11). The Amplified Version of Romans 8:37 declares, “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors and gain an overwhelming victory through Him who loved us [so much that He died for us].” With Romans 8:37 in mind, Proverbs 31 warriors only fight to enforce their victory. They fight from a place of rest because they are conscious of the love of the One who defeated Satan, their greatest foe.
