What’s In A Name?

Have you ever seen a flock of sheep together? I wonder if you could tell them apart! If you’re not looking closely, they might all look the same. Shepherds spend so much time with them that they know each one really well. They often give them names that fit their personality. The name they choose tells them something special about them. What is the first thing that people usually learn about you when you meet them? Your name! Did you know that God told Mary what to name her baby? The very first thing the angel Gabriel told Mary about her Son was what to name Him. Names are very important to God and He picked out the perfect name for His Son. Jesus means ‘Savior’ and that is exactly what Jesus is—our Savior. Everything about Jesus fulfills God’s plan for us, including His name. What a perfect name!
