THE GOOD NEWS ABOUT TEMPTATION

A lot of us joke freely that we’re tempted by chocolate. (I know I am! Fudge brownie sundae, please.) But we also face other temptations, don’t we? Maybe it’s easy for us to lose our tempers and go off on others. Perhaps we’re suddenly tempted when we see an opportunity to cheat on a test. Or maybe we’ve struggled to stay pure sexually. Scripture reassures us that we don’t face any temptation that others aren’t also facing. And we also have the assurance that when we are tempted, God always provides a way out. That’s reassuring, right? So when you’re in that bind, ask God to show you the way out.

Prayer: Lord, You know the ways I struggle. But I long to live faithfully for You. Send Your Spirit as a guide to show me how to conquer temptation. Amen.
