Reading With the People of God #8 Peaceنموونە

Peace in Unexpected Blessings
Scripture:
James 1:17 — "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."
Reflection:
Sometimes, God’s blessings appear in ways we don’t expect—through people, new experiences, or even difficult seasons. These surprises can bring unexpected joy, peace, and encouragement just when we need it most. Take a moment to reflect:
- What unexpected gifts or joys did you experience this year?
- How did these moments bring peace to your heart?
Prayer:
Spend some time thanking the Lord for the gifts you didn’t see coming this year. Ask Him to open your heart to the blessings you may have missed along the way and to cultivate a deeper sense of gratitude within you.
Sample Prayer:
Father, thank You for every good and perfect gift, even those I didn’t expect. Help me recognize the blessings I may have overlooked and remind me of the ways You brought peace to my heart this year. Fill me with gratitude as I reflect on Your kindness. Amen.

Fear touches every life—whether through childhood worries, family anxieties, or mistakes we try to avoid. But Advent invites us to hope for a new reality ruled by peace, not fear. The Son of God entered our broken world to comfort us, overcome fear, and bring lasting peace. May His gospel of peace fill your heart throughout this Advent season! This month’s reading plan follows the lectionary pattern with daily passages from the Psalms, Old Testament, and New Testament, accompanied by Advent devotionals in partnership with 1517.org on the theme of Peace.
