Thanksgiving and Praise
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father God, we rejoice in Your holy name, for You have done great things. The beauty of Your creation surrounds us, and the depth of Your mercy has gone before us. You have given us a wonderful Savior in Jesus Christ, who is gentle and lowly in heart, and in Him, we find rest for our souls (Matthew 11:29). We gladly enter Your gates with thanksgiving and Your courts with praise (Psalm 100:4)!
You have instructed us in Your Word to bear with one another in love with all humility, gentleness, and patience (Ephesians 4:2). And You have taught us to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarreling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people (Titus 3:2).
As we consider Your gentleness toward us, help us to reflect that same gentleness towards others. Let us be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for a person's anger does not produce the righteousness of God (James 1:19-20). Please make us more like You.
ONE QUESTION
When I feel the urge to speak poorly of someone, what are some practical steps I can take to shift my thoughts and words toward kindness?
