Watch Where You Are Going
Are you someone who can receive correction? Admit when you are wrong? Truly reflect on and assess your motives, and honestly assess what or whom is the driving force in your decision-making.
I was NOT able to do any of these before encountering Jesus Christ. Although I admit this freely now, had you asked me prior to Jesus, I would have died on my self-righteous mound of any given issue as an insufferable know-it-all. Even now, (ESPECIALLY now) I must diligently consume a steady diet of His Word to stay yoked and connected to His presence. Otherwise, I immediately begin drifting back into my old ways, back into the darkness and defaults of my flesh from the almost 4 decades of living apart from the truth and wisdom that can only come from a relationship with Jesus Christ. I offer a perspective from that of an adult coming to Christ and His Wisdom at 38 years young 😉. I was set in my ways, or so I thought until Jesus took me by the hand and said, “Follow Me.” From that moment on, Jesus changed everything and is still changing everything. I came to the end of myself, having dug a hole I could no longer strive to maintain or escape under my own power. I was finally in a humbled position of having to admit I couldn't handle life, and I didn't know anything! I'm sharing my experience because I think many of us, myself included, tend to forget that God isn't just in the details, He IS the details!
God is wisdom, so apart from Him, there can be none. God is love. Know God; know love. No God; no love. His Word truly is that of a double-edged sword, used to correct and transform…if we allow it. God's correction is always done in love because He isn't a cruel God; He is just. The moment we start leaning on our own understanding, we are no longer walking on God's path. The only way to remain on His narrow path is to abide in His Word. ALL of His Word, not just the parts that make us feel good. If you aren't being challenged, convicted, and corrected by God's Word, it might be time to check your “G.P.S.” (God Positioning System).
Where does God's wisdom rank in your daily walk? Are you asking Him before you act and waiting for His guidance and revelation, knowledge through reading His Word, before you move? These are things I'm still learning how to incorporate into my daily walk. What are you doing daily to grow closer to our wise, loving Father?
