God Gives Good Gifts to Everyone

Penny began to wonder...

Could I tell stories that help people think about big things?

Could I wear that tiny microphone?

Could I teach God’s word to others?

In the book Penny Preaches, Penny loves the sermon at church each Sunday, and wonders if she might be able to become a preacher someday. She knows she has important things to say to others, and she asks God to help her know what those things are.

Sometimes, like Penny, we feel a strong pull in our hearts about something. Maybe it’s something that makes you feel so happy when you do it, or something others tell you you’re good at. These can be signs that it is a special gift God has given you. Each one of us is created with a special purpose, and we all have gifts and talents that are unique. Think about the things in your life that you have a special interest in, or things you do for others that make them happy. What are they? Could these be the special gifts God has given you?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for making me special and giving me unique gifts. Help me to discover the talents you've given me and find ways to use them to help others!

Activity:

Many Gifts

On a piece of paper, draw three wrapped gift boxes, like the kind you might receive on your birthday. Make each box different—different sizes, different colors, different wrapping paper. Underneath each box, describe one thing about you that is a special gift from God. These could be things you are good at, things you are interested in, things that make you really happy, or things you do that help others.
