Collide

ڕۆژی15 لە 15

Some of the most powerful words in the human language are these: You are not alone. It’s the promise repeated frequently throughout Scripture. It’s even the parting promise of Jesus before He ascended to heaven. We’re told He will be with us no matter what and that the Holy Spirit will be left in His place. But this passage from Hebrews takes things even further. We may never be left alone by God, but even more than that, we know our story is part of a bigger story. We aren’t living isolated lives in an isolated period.

There are the stories, lives, and examples of people who have gone before us. People who have faced incredible challenges and struggles. People who lived and died faithfully. When our own story feels overwhelming, when we feel alone with what we might be facing, and when the idea of stepping outside our current reality to experience something new and different that God might have for us feels scary, we can remember this passage. There is a great cloud of witnesses who understand, and knowing we are not alone in that way is an incredible encouragement as we face whatever might come next.

This week, think about the people in your life who help you feel less alone in your faith and all God has called you to do. Maybe it’s a spouse, your friends, your family, or even your Small Group. Shoot them a text or set up a time to have dinner to let them know how much you appreciate the way they make you feel less alone on this journey.

Collide

Change often feels like a collision. Getting jolted out of the rut of predictability doesn’t always feel good, but it does have the potential to lead to something positive. Scripture is full of examples of people who collided with God and were never the same because of it. That didn’t mean it was always easy, but it did mean they were forever changed as a result. What would it take to put yourself in a position to collide with God?
