All the Feels - Leading Our Emotions

ڕۆژی1 لە 30

Day 1: LEAN IN AND LEARN

Do you talk about how you are feeling or stuff them down? Are you irritated, intimidated or not sure what to do with them? Some of us are keenly aware of our emotions while others struggle to express how we truly feel. That's ok! We are wired differently so processing differently is ok as long as we process them.

Avoiding, ignoring or stuff downing down isn’t’ helpful, neither is dwelling on them or over exaggerating them. No matter our family background or personal bent we can decide to lean in and learn from our emotions. If we let them, feelings can be a type of window that God uses to give us a deeper look into our relationships, areas we can grow and places that may need healing or repentance. Choosing to lean in and learn helps us better discern what's going on beneath the obvious reactions or instincts our emotions can trigger.

Here is a warning though, the enemy can use our emotions as well. If the devil can deceive us by using our feelings to react and dwell in our flesh, then "ALL OUR FEELS" can lead us to very destructive and dark places. It can cause us to doubt and destroy the best things in our lives if we aren’t careful to bring them before Jesus to filter through truth and perspective.

A godly approach to our emotions is to deal with them, but not overdo them. “...whoever fears God will avoid all extremes. ” (Ecclesiastes 7:18b, NIV)

Emotions aren't necessarily bad on their own and not all are from God. The good news? God can use them. Whether you’ve been avoiding all the feels or living in all the feels, let's decide to lean in and learn from God’s word how we can navigate them in a healthy and helpful way.
