Pump It Up! Live Elated, Not Deflated Through Disappointing Daysنموونە

Buoyancy aids
Another aspect of my daughter’s adoption story that really moves me is how God provided for her before we could get to her. We got the call about her when she was four days old, and we met her at twelve days old, so there was a period of around a week before we were allowed to meet her and become the family she desperately needed.
During that week, a wonderful lady called Kerry visited our daughter each day in the hospital as a volunteer ‘cuddler’. The nurses in the special care unit understandably didn’t have the time to snuggle our girl. Kerry went and held our girl for hours each day. The term ‘Godsend’ is so appropriate for this special lady. In her waiting time, our girl was held, loved, and comforted by the lovely Kerry. I believe God wants to do this for each of us in our own waiting times. We may feel abandoned - we may have actually been abandoned by people we should have been able to rely upon. But God draws close to us and wants to gift us with a buoyancy aid, to keep our faith and hope afloat.
Our buoyancy aid may take many different forms. It may be a physical person - someone who supports and loves you through it. It may be a financial provision that lets you know God cares and is providing for your practical needs. It may be a scripture that is so specific to your situation, and it brings you much-needed comfort and hope. It may be a song - that was the case for me. I came across a song in my dinghy called ‘Sovereign Over Us’ that I’d not heard before, and it helped me to stand against the lies that I was forgotten and nothing would change. I sang God’s truth over my situation, and it helped to keep my faith and hope afloat (plus my singing probably kept the seagulls away from my dinghy, too!)
God will give us these buoyancy aids to help, strengthen, and bring comfort to us in our waiting times. Our verse for today says that God has given us everything we need for life and godliness. Look out for those divinely placed buoyancy aids and appreciate them as much as you can.
