Living in God’s Peace: A 12-Day Journey Through Scriptureنموونە

A Simple Request
Have you been given tasks that you feared you might not be able to complete? In my role as a pastor in a megachurch, I have had to play ambassador to try to bring about reconciliation in very sensitive matters. Perhaps you have faced daunting challenges that felt like a mountain you feared climbing. And your inner peace crumbled to bits.
Abraham assigned such a task to a servant: the man was to find a suitable wife for the patriarch’s son Isaac. Finding Isaac a wife is a part of the great story. The promise that Abraham would be the father of nations could hardly be fulfilled unless a wife for his son was found!
What I like is how the servant prayed. He asked for success and suggested how he might recognize the right woman, and before he finished his prayer it was answered (v. 14).
What is the lesson for us? To reassemble our shattered peace, let us pray to the God of the universe. Let us rely on His sure answer. And let us give glory to God when once again He makes our mountains fall and our peace firm.

The story of the Bible is the story of peace. But peace isn’t simply a feeling of calm or ease. It is a way of experiencing life as we were always meant to, in relationship with our Creator and with each other. We can recover a completeness that was once lost but is restored in the gospel. Experience peace with God as you meditate on this important theme of Scripture. In this journey, you will find the encouragement you need to live out of the wholeness you have in Christ—and be equipped to share that peace with others.
